    Default Power sander?

Hey guys I'm going to get a new electric sander and was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand, I would like one that can use any sandpaper so I don't have to buy disks with velcrow or anything.

Two options from ho'depot online - both 1/4 sheet sanders

    29$ option:

    49$ option

or you could look at 1/3 sheet sanders. larger sanding area, but, larger cost. I managed to get a black&decker one for 40ish here in canada. it does the job. barely. if you want a tool that'll last, dont buy the cheapest one.

also - Look at pawnshops. they can be fun.

    Ok,
I know you said that you wanted one that would take any paper, but I'm going to toss this one in. Because I love mine so much! I got mine for $39 @ Wal-mart
It's a Skil Random Orbit Sander It has a 5" disk (so it can use standard velcro discs, costs like $5 for 10 I think) It remove material like a dream, Light weight, and has a built in filter system (though there is still dust there's alot less). I've used it on aluminum to clean out scratches (buffing wheel and polish!). Cause it doesn't leave a scratch line (like you can get with a 1/4 sheet sander)

I have this one and a little B&D mouse knock off....The mouse never gets used anymore!

    Good Luck,
    Crazybillybob

What ever you get, don't buy cheap sand paper. I've done it you go through 2x as much and it still doesn't look quite right. Spend the extra $0.25 a sheet and pick up some 3M paper you'll use less and get done quicker, as well as save money.

I have a larger disk sander (about 5-6 inch I think but this thing is a big arse) right now, but its too big for a computer, it nearly shakes the frame to pieces, so I can use it for the sides, but not the case itself. And mine isn't speed adjustable, so one speed thats all.
