    Default My First PC mod

    hi guys, im new here

Well basically iv always been interested in computers and i have a custom build PC atm but i think now is the time for me to make my own PC.

Heres my Plan/what i want to do for my PC:

    • Belkin tool kit 65 bits
    • Acrylic Cube PC case (cant find one to order in the UK tho)
    • 25w soldering iron
    • 600w X-Power ATX SLI PSU
    • 12V LED SPST Toggle Switches (i want to use this instead of the normal power button
    • Intel QUAD CORE 2 Duo Q6600 1066FSB SKT775
    • ASUS P5N32SLI Premium Motherboard
    • 500gb HDD (i want to take off normal cover and replace with acrylic so it goes with the case, dunno how to do that tho lol)
    • 4gb RAM

Well thats basically what i want, oh and i want to liquid cool the PC.

What other tools do i need?

Is there any good PC building guides i can follow when i get stuck?

Thanks for taking the time to read, hope to hear advice.

    Welcome to the forums!
If you are going to use a cube case it probably wont be atx i.e. your mobo and psu wont fit.
I really wouldnt recommend trying to change the cover on your hdd, it involves taking off the original one and if you let one speck of dust in when the cover is off your hdd is ruined.
If you think of any more specific questions just ask!

    welcome to the forums!

i agree with the hdd, don't waste your time or money. i tried it and failed, though i never used a "clean room/box" also i turned it on while the lid was off, link to it.

toggle switches (on-off, on-off-on types) won't work for the power switch since they only require a momentary completed circuit and hence use momentary switches. if you still want to use a toggle switch you can have the toggle switch give power to the main power button. this way unless the toggle is on the pc won't turn on.

Thanks for the info, ill just use a button for the power then and use switches for the LEDs ill be adding to the case, but ill make a plexi box as a sorta control box for LED lights.
