    Default Nvidia 8800GT is here!

    Check out this Chinese review.

It almost always beats the ATI HD2900XT and almost always comes within a few frames of 8800GTX performance. Luckily though, this card will only be about $250. Though this is nice, I'm pretty sure I'm still going to go with the ATI HD3870 (RV670), especially since nVidia admitted to the ATI one being better.

So, what do you guys think?

Sweet! I can upgrade from my 8500GT and give that to my brother or something! NICE. That'll be awesome, I know I'm definitely not going to be paying $400+ for a video card, to hell with that mess.

I've already decided that I'm going with the ATI HD3870. If the 8800GT competes with the 8800GTX and nvidia admitted to the 8800GT losing against the ATI HD3870, then the ATI must be one kickass card. By christmas I'll probably get a second HD3870 and crossfire them, for some very nice Crysis action...

HD3870? This is the first I've heard of it.

And can I point out that HD3870 is the 'next' gen card. So I would expect it to beat the 8800GT.

The 8800GT is meant to be a replacement for the 8800GTS, so it's still generation 8.

AMD have gone onto the next generation by the looks of things. I'm waiting for the Geforce 9 series.

EDIT: Apparent the HD3800 series is the HD2950 series!

Indy, where does nVidia 'admit' that the 8800GT loses against the HD3870? Also where is the reviews of the HD3870?

Right here. But there are no reviews as of yet, though they have some early 3DMark tests taken at one of the computer expos the RV670 (HD3870) was shown off at.

The ATI isn't really a next-gen card, but for some reason ATI named it that way. Its still running on an R600-based core. Weird how the RV670 is going to beat the R600 by a mile... ATI's next-gen card is a dual-core version of the RV670 coming out Q1 2008.

Both of these cards will be released within 5 days of each other in november and both will be right around $250.

I currently don't think the inquirer is a reliable source of information.

I'll wait for the actual cards to come out.

You may be true, but I think that the HD3870 had slighter higher objectives set by ATI than nvidia and the 8800GT. Believe it or not, I am not an ATI fanboy, I've always chose the company that has the current best performance/price ratio. I Just think ATI will come ahead in this little race.

It is possible. But as I said, I'll wait for them to come out. Rumours spread like wild fire *winks*
