Thread: 19V Adapter for a 12V monitor.

    Default 19V Adapter for a 12V monitor.

Hey guys, I'm not too sure if this question has been asked before, since it seems like a question that might be frequently asked, but search didn't help me at all. So, I was wondering, is it safe to run a monitor that requires a 12V input from an adapter with an AC adapter that outputs 19V?

I really don't want to spend money to buy a new adapter and just wanted to make sure, in case something blows up.

    Thanks.

yeah, def. want to buy a new adapter. especially if the amp output of the 19v is a lot higher than the 12v. if the amps are about the same, then the 19v would be somewhat ok to use as a temporary thing, but if you have an expensive monitor, i wouldnt risk frying it.
