    Default 8400GS DX10 on the cheap $19.99

    newegg.com foxconn 8400gs

Only $19.99 After $20 MIR. Assuming foxconn is good with their rebates thats a cheap DX10 low profile card. Ya no gaming monster, but great for having a pci-e card handy in emergencies or for a cheap mediacenter pc. I might pick one up for on of my spare pc's running on integrated graphics.

For those of you who don't know, this card was originally for OEM's only, but nvidia allowed some manafacturers to make retail versions of the card. It is essentially a 8500GT, same clocks. The difference (albeit a crippling one for games) is a 64bit memory interface as opposed to a 128bit memory interface of the 8500GT's.

Good cheap card if you need one. As I said, Ill probably pick one up for my upcoming rebuild.

seriously, would the dx10 advantages be used with such a crap card? Although its better than onboard and definatly a good deal I dont think it's "DX10 on the cheap"

I know its not going to game very well, but it will still game if you needed it to. It will run Half life 2 decently enough among other older games.

No crap its not going to play any DX10 games well at all.

I was more focused on a pci-e graphics card, that can handle HIGH resolutions, that is under $20. Point out a whole lot of those and I will be impressed. Point out one that games better than that for under $20 brand new, with a warranty, and I will +rep you.

I was more concerned with a pci-e card that is decent for smaller pc's / a good card to have around. You want DX10 gaming, you might as well wait for a new series to come out as Crysis eats the top end cards like they are nothing.

Just pointing out a nice card at a cheap price. The dx10 on the cheap was meant to be ignored because anyone who games will know this card isn't for them.

It would be ideal for a HTPC, the lower end 8 series are pretty good for video stuff. Much better than the low 7 series.

It should be better than the 7200GS. The 8400GS scores around 1600 points on 3dmark06 on default settings, and a little over 2000 points on 1024x768 resolution.

My old laptop that had a 7400 GO scored right under 1300 if I remember correctly. I played Half Life 2 great on that laptop, Oblivion on low/medium settings just fine. WoW great.

So the 8400GS should do basic games like that just fine on low resolutions. Great for a HTPC with a real cheap price.
