Default Anything better than 8800GTX coming out?

I need some insight here. I curently have an eVGA 8800GTS Superclocked, and it is just not enough to futureproof my system, so I am upgrading to an 8800GTX, 2 of them to be specific.

At least that is my plan as of now.

I have 46 days left on my step up program, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any card that would be equal to or better than 8800GTX performance coming out before the end of the year. I know about the G92 8800GTS revision, but I don't think that will be better than 8800GTX.

Money is not an issue, and neither is power consumption. I have a 750 watt psu with 4 PCI-E pins, so I am not concerned about that. The card has to be Nvidia.

So, bottom line: Is anything better than the 8800GTX within the same price point coming out before the end of the year?

    Thanks,
    Dex

while its not in the same price point the 8800 Ultra is still the best card out. with some oc'ing it should be even better. (699 for the base model and 799 for the superclocked)

I know, but you hardly get 10 percent more performance but you pay 200 bucks more

For that price I can throw a waterblock on the GTX and OC it to Ultra specs.

ya but you get better cooling as well with the ultra. if nothing else is out by the time i get the cash for a new video card i will pick the base model and water cool it. stupid intel decided not to tell nvidia or eVGA that the new 45nm quads won't work with a 680ichipset so now i will have to buy a new mobo for the Q9450.

but ya i would just stick with the GTX's.

Edit that statement: They told them at first they it would, so people like me bought one new about a week ago, then they retracted that statement and told us that it wouldn't work.

what do you mean edit that statement? it says that the new quads won't work with the 680i chipsets, which they won't. the dual core chips will, but who wants a crappy dual core.

Thats what I mean. They said at first that the quad cores WOULD work, so people such as myself bought 680i boards intending to buy a next gen quad core, then they changed their minds.

Anyways, I am ordering an 8800GTX, a pair of them should last me 2 years, which is what I aim for when building a new system.

even though i got mine a while ago, before i heard about the new 45nm cpu's, i still hope eVGA or nvidia offers either a stepup or some kind of discount on the 7xx series motherboards. i think they should offer a 25% discount for people who bought the board 5-6 months back and a setup for those who bought it 1-2 months ago.

The ULTRA is just a superclocked 8800GTX with a better heatsink. Go with the two GTX's and water cool and OC, you should exceed stock ULTRA specs.

yes but the ultra is better then a gtx when both are oc'ed and when both are at stock, its just that for most people a 10% increase or so doesn't justify 150-200 more.
