    Many moons ago, I picked up this epson 286 with a view to modding it. I haven't actually done anything with it yet, but I thought I'd share the photos I took when I took it apart today.

    Firstly, the front view:




    Behind those front panel covers:



    That switch slows it down from 12 MHz to 8 or 6, just in case some applications run too fast...


    First look inside, at all the expansion cards:




    The cards, one by one (from top/left to bottom right in the above photo):

    Modem:


    Yes, it is bent...


    Memory expansion:




    Video:




    FDD/IO controller:




    HDD Controller:



    RAM:




    Motherboard:



    CPU:




    The mobo slides in through a slot in the front,




    and connects to the expansion slots via that grey connector:




    One of the disks (20MB I believe):




    (not as big as I had imagined)


    The case almost empty. The drive cage is welded in place.

    If a mod would like to remove it, that would be fine. No need for duplicates.
