Default 1394 on my Asus motherboard

    Hi Guys,

I bought a ASUS M2N-E for my Antec P150 case.

The P150 has a 1394 Firewire port on the front of the case. I always thought that the 1394 wire coming of the case could be plugged into a USB pins on my motherboard. The manual specifically says not too. Is there a way around this? I also have a firewire PCI card plugged into the board with 4 pins coming of of it. Is there a way to maybe run it off that? Please let me know. Thanks again.

don';t think there is, you might try plugging in the plus into the firewire card you have otherwise you can't use it.

No, don't do that. That would probably result in a fried mobo (if the voltages they use are different, and it gets fed the wrong thing, bad..). There should be a connector around by those USB connectors for Firewire though. By the looks of you mobo, see if you can see anything about the red connector right under the last PCI slot. The 2 blue ones are USB headers, but I couldn't find what the red one was.

Red should be FireWire, it was on my dad's Asus mobo.

I claim no responsibility for any and all damages from taking this advice.
