    Default Painting Question

I'm about to redo my Cowboy Bebop case that I posted on Yoshi's forums, and I have a painting question for you all. My case is already black, but I wanted to do a fade from the black on the top to a purple color. Problem is, I'm not really sure how to do it. I plan on using spray cans, but I do have a cheap airbrush if that would make it easier. Any suggestions?

I've done projects freehand with spray-cans fading from one color to another and they look great as long as you keep a steady distance from the surface and a straight line iif that's the shape you want. Be sure to applay many thin coats with time inbetween, and make each coat of colored paint spread less far into the black area.
If you dont like how it looks, you can always sand down and try again.

Thanks, I've also heard that spraying at an angle will give me the desired effect. Do you think that will work?

I dont think that spraying at an angle would wokr that much, if so make sure that the black part of the case is at the far end of the stream. I would give your case a good sanding, then paint the black and the purple in a few coats, wet sand and do it agian. Then clear coat it to make it shine.
The hardest part would be if you needed to make just a minor change. I would start with a black under coat then just start with a real light purple where you want to start the fade and work up from there.
