    Default Laptop Harddrive

I need someone to help me find a Laptop harddrive. I'm having problems finding the right interface.

The original HD says ATA/IDE interface on the harddrive...and well, I havent had luck in actually finding one for laptop.

    does ATA-6 work?

What kind of laptop is it?

ATA-6 sounds really low to me, maybe ATA-66? But I know only enough not to get me into trouble with my laptop.

IDE laptop drives have pins on them for the connector to plug onto. SATA obviously uses a SATA connector.

I agree that you are most likely in need of at ATA-66 drive, I might have another spare kicking around. PM me..

Yes it will work, ATA-6 is the 6th revision of the ATA standard and should fall back to the older modes if needed. ATA-6 is rated at 100MB/s ATA-5 is the "Ultra ATA-66" you see around. SATA is ATA-7 as is "Ultra ATA-133". Anything under ATA-7 is IDE only.
