Electricity Bill Dilemna...

Hey Everyone,

Can someone please explain to me a bit about PSU Wattage and its subsequent effect on the Electricity Bill...

Foe eg... I just got a Intel E8400 and GIgabyte 9800GX2, all running on stock on a 550 watt Thermaltake Toughpower. I am told i need atleast a 650 Watt one, but I would like to get a 1KW+ PSU so that I can Quad-SLi later.

SO the question is, with Hybrid Power and all, if I get a 1KW PSU and have all the GPUs turned off, how much power would I be actually drawing. Would it be the Full 1KW or just what is needed for the system. I do understand that there is a minimum through put of the PSU regardless of the system load...

Can someone please help?

Yeah. It's like with a car engine, the more you demand of it the more gas (or in your case, electricity) it uses.
