Interesting Australia appears to be a mix of British and American or maybe it is jsut where I live there are lots of retired Americans about. I almost got run over by an escalade the other day and I don't think they even sell those here.

My personal favourite, which caused all sorts of hilariously awkward moments with my British cousins:

    UK: Flip-flops
    Aus: Thongs

Hmm... you're really pissed after your yearly performance review with your boss so you go get pissed and have to piss real bad afterwards? Or you piss yourself while pissed which also makes you pissed.

    UK: Lift
    US: Elevator

Then there is something, a flat. Not sure what the exact US equivalent is, but I think it is an appartment.

Yeah that is pretty close. Last time it was explained to me a Flat was more a specific type of apartment, (consisting on one floor I believe).

The interesting thing is the revers. An American "flat" is a British "puncture"
