    System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Performance > Advanced > set to "No Paging file". Reboot and test.

    Hmm... that's a strange one.. I'll test when I can and see what I get for results, but I'm sure that my office pc recognizes the full 4gb with the page file off.

    I'll confirm tomorrow.

    8GB will only give you a performance boost if you are streaming HD footage or doing high level encoding or graphics work. For today's games it is probably useless but games are getting more and more intense so in the long run it could be worth it, maybe not 8GB, I can see 6GB being worth it.

    If you run azureus with many large torrents, firefox 2 with 100+ tabs, and a demanding game, you can still probably get away with 4-6 GB.
