8800GT running hot with new board?

I just switched from a Gigabyte microATX motherboard to a Biostar ATX board because it had PCIe 16x 2.0 (rather than 1.0 or whatever the previous incarnation was called). That is the only change I made, but now my card is running like 10 degrees C hotter than before?? Thing idles at 72-73. Only difference I can see is the 2.0 aspect but that's just a bandwidth increase, right? And the board has a dedicated 4-pin Molex power connection for the video card, but it's got its own power anyway. Any idea what's going on here?

Can't see why changing from a PCIE16x v1 to a PCIE16x v2 would change the temps. What program are you using to monitor GPU temps?

Using NvTempLogger, same program with both boards. The fan controller software that came with the board shows the same temps.

For now, keep an eye on it, and put some heavy load onto the GPU and see what the load temps are.

when you changed out the motherboard did you put wires differently? maybe your blocking /messing with airflow patterns.

Thanks for the input guys, but I just sent the thing back to Newegg. For some reason, it was also WAY slower to access data from my hard drives (??), like when Windows had to install all of the "new hardware" it saw on the new board, it took FOREVER. Other data was slow also. There was probably a fix of some sort available, but not worth the trouble since my Gigabyte board worked so well. I used the money I saved on the board to buy some more cooling stuff.
