I wasn't leaning towards the commisioned build part of the spectrum but who knows. I want to build clean simplistic PC's (much like the early work from VooDoo minus all that bling).
I agree with you though, the perforated front does look a bit much, it doesn't look as clean and professional. The only upside of the V1000z is that it comes with the window and has 6 hot swap HDD bays.
The V1010 is a larger case with support for much larger PSU (Enermax size) which will probably come in handy as PSU's get bigger and more powerful. It also has a GPU support bar which allows you to stabilize extremely long graphics cards (8800GTX etc.) which will also come in handy for when the GPU's are water cooled, help support the added weight.
I intend to mod the cases slightly so I think having the option of no window or custom cut window would be good for the consumer, along with water cooling of course.
I am almost dead set on going for the V1010 however this build probably wont take place until next year so I will constantly be updating parts. I just wanted to get the overall idea down so I could get all your feed back, I can tell you, it has been really helpful so far.
