    does someone know if the engine in an OLD cd drive can lift an new cd drive?

    edit: when i say old cd drive i meen those who makes you afraid of loosing an eye when they open ;P

    Can anyone help? or do you know a cheap way to do this? basicly what i want is an cd drive that popps upp when you press a button and you put your cd in.. press the button and it pops down again.

    All I can say about the drive is the fact that little torque is needed to push out the drive, with the right amount of gearing it might work, but you'll need to plan your mechanism before you start. I've had a similar idea and basically used some worm gears and a couple of standard gears.
