The US has been trying to do similar things for years, but we have this silly document called the "Constitution" that prevents a lot of the intrusions the government wants.

xRyokenx: Orwell's nineteen eighty-four is one of the books I've nearly always carried with me ever since I first read it. What worries me is that I'm seeing so many things that match up between the story and reality... :/

And that's how the government seems to justify everything they do these days. "Holding people for 42 days without charge? Ah, that's so we can stop terrorism." etc.

And people wonder why I distrust the government?

It's a scary thing that's happening in the world today, and it seems to be happening to so many countries.

I haven't finished 1984 yet but I'm near the end. It's a scary book, possibly the scariest I've read yet. Zombies are an easy problem to fix, but a government with no concern for its citizens' rights? That's another story.

I always have an eye open on people with authority. I'm only 19 but I've seen plenty people with power abuse it.

Why do you think people hide in the internet? Although that too is becoming controlled (think China... but worldwide).
