    Default New Video Card Problems

So my setup used to be kick'n a couple of XFX nVidia 7300gt (512mb), they were really cheap and with them SLI'd I could even play crysis (on low res).

Well i got myself an evga 8800gt and that were i ran into a wall, First I installed the card, booted and tried to install the drivers, me being a genius i did not change any SLI setting in the bios, nor did i flip the chip on my board (has a little chip you flip to go from 1gpu to) and i did uninstall the old drivers.

well the machine booted in beautiful 800x600, and froze shortly after. Rebooted, and start installing drivers. Froze. Reboot. Install drivers. Froze. Reboot, did even get past windows loading screen and froze.

I tried to change the SLI settings in the bios any on the board and it only got worse, it would freeze before finishing booting or not even boot at all.

And makes me a saaaaad panda...(sorry i was just watching south park)

after changing EVERYTHING back (changed settings back and put old cards back in) and i panic backed up my data, but then i noticed that my computer had return to perfect working condition.

can anyone shed any light on how I might try going at this again?

    thanks

Try changing the settings with your current setup, then put the new card in. That should work.
