Problem:
Currently, my systems are spread across half of our computer area (roughly 1/3rd of our living room) in our apartment. While I am able to control the server remotely, I don't wish to enable remote access on any of the other machines.
Solution (WIP)
Tonight, I cleaned a large portion of my work table off. This is where I am currently at:
The table itself is 60" long by 36" wide. I snagged the top half of the computer desk from work, as it was destined for the trash. Sadly, my 22" monitor will not fit in there, so I am faced with two choices: either move the supporting wall in the middle to the side a bit or build a whole new top half from scratch. Of the two, building a new shelving system seems to be the more logical of the two, as I will be able to accommodate both the router and the cable modem into the final design. I also plan on looking into casters for the bottoms of the table itself, as my filing cabinet server will not fit underneath. Raising the table up a few inches will not only accommodate the FCS, but will also allow for a keyboard tray to be attached underneath the table as well.
Once I decide on the final design, I shall ask the mods to move this to the WIP section of the website. Hopefully, this request will go through very soon.
