    Default Removing background from images

    Hi,

I am designing a catalog however the photos have a background, for
example the pictures are of shoes but i can see the table the shoe is
sitting on and the background behind the shoe, is there a way to cut
the shoes out in Photoshop so the background is removed?

    Thanks

Hey, is this Alex or Bob?

Seriously, though, the Magic Wand will do a rough job of it; you can manually select around 'em with the Lasso (or even Magnetic Lasso) and erase the edge-bits a little at a time if it's got to be perfect. Just copy what you need, paste it onto the background, and clean up the edges with the eraser.

EDIT: Jon's got it covered, he knows more cool tricks than I do.

You could also use the extract filter(filter>extract) However don't use it if the shoes have things like fur because you wont be able to get that fine of a cut out with extract.

There are tons of different ways to clip a portion of an image from it's background, but the preferable method depends a bit on the image itself.
