    Default Windows 7

Can I ask what your guys opinions on it is?

    Also: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/15718

And for the fun of it (seen in comments of above link):

If I start counting the cost of my time, each new version of Windows has cost me tens of thousands of dollars. Hell, just using Windows has cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost productivity....
Maybe you should stop playing solitaire and start working
My personal opinion is it's taking feedback from vista users and trying to incorporate them, there are also interesting things with the new Windows 7 (I'm actually excited about the rumoured calculator).

I think Windows 7 will be amazing, if they get the price/feature ratio right. They should sell a basic package to everyone, then allow the purchase of additional modules (features such as media centre, or remote desktop), so that people only pay for what they need. In that case, there would be no bloat, as you would only have what you paid for. If you had stuff you didnt want, that would then be your own fault.

Windows Vista is brilliant for me. Sure, others might have had their problems, but for me, it's been fine. One of the main reasons that most businesses (they only talk about large business, not medium or small ones) are not moving to Vista, is because th technicians can't be bothered to change everything. Then they use the excuse of high cost to stop their bosses from making them do it. All those technicians who only 'want' XP are going to whine like hell when the product support runs out in 5 years time anyway.

It will be interesting to see what Windows 7 brings. I think it will improve leaps and bounds over Vista if it isn't such a resource hog. I know I'll not be buying a copy of Vista since 7 is set to be released so soon.

I think a lot of businesses that haven't switched over heard stories about lack of driver support or compatibility issues and that's what is keeping them from switching. Which there were at first but it's been fixed now. Hopefully when Microsoft releases 7 they will have learned from Vista and wait until they have enough driver support from other companies before they do a full launch and give 7 as bad of a name as Vista had in the beginning.

    Here is a buisness perspective:

We have no option of migrating to Vista because much of our core software is incompatible (heck it is incompatiable with everything since windows 3.1, everything since then has just been bandages) with Vista so it's just not feasable. Secondly it doesn't really offer anything to make an incentive for the transition. Graphical enhancements don't do anything for buisness machines. While it offers some enhanced security, most of the same things are enforceable with Active Directory policies.

    So, why change?

Until XP no longer gets security patches I cannot justify the change.

That's because it pretty much is. Windows 7 builds on top of vista.

The original screenshots I saw have been taken down, so that's the best I can give you for now.

For obvious reasons, I cannot say much, but...

I REALLY like Win7. I only reluctantly upgraded my home system to Vista, but my two machines at work that have 7 on them, well, I'm excited.
