I am trying to figure out my options. If I have something in each category I can look and see what the differences are and then go from there.

quite extremist, wouldn't you say, Mal? But then again, an intended price range would be nice

I am willing to spend about $150 on a mobo...depending on how much the CPU would be. I saw the posts earlier and I just got my Maximum PC Building A Dream PC book in the mail so I have been reading up.
And yeah...that is a little extreme....OR IS IT!!!!!!!!!

Ok do you want PCI-E or AGP for the Graphics Card?
what I would look for.
Socket 939
Nforce 4 Chip set
My top Manufactures of Mobo's
ASUS
MSI
DFI
What are PCI-E and AGP? Remember I am in the rookie corner. ha ha

He means a PCI Express video card, which is capable of delivering about double the bandwidth rates of AGP 8x, but current games dont really require that much bandwidth,
or AGP vid card...which would be the type of card you most likely have now
i am getting my system this xmas and i still am going to be using my AGP geforce 6800, but PCI-E will be teh future of cards so it depends what you want

theres plenty more info out there, just look it up on google...i read somewhere that AGP cards will be safe for at least a few more years so i'm not too worried about PCI-E yet
