Default My Super stealthed kitchen computer thingy

My names gramatton..as you can see. I joined a short while ago after lurking around for a little bit. What most of you guys can do with cases absolutely amazes me. So after I introduced mysef, jdbnsn asked to see the computer I built under a desk in my kitchen. Now I don't have any in progress pics, because I didn't think I would need them and never really thought about it.

A little backstory. My dad has been wanting a computer in the kitchen for awhile, something that the family could use to access the internet(mainly to prove each other wrong in arguements), look up recipes, and of course to show a slideshow of pictures of his amazing truck that he's driving across the US.

So one day I got tired of him needling me about a computer(me being the computer guru of the family) so I boasted I could hide one under the desk in there. And the rest is, as they say, history.

So here they are, pictures of my first ever, kinda mod.

Can you see where the computer is?

    And how about now?

    There it is.

And with the cover removed so you can see the messy insides. Never really got around to going back and zip tieing, but whos gonna see it besides me and you guys.

And the pov most people see. (Slideshow pic of dad's amazing truck at a car show)

And there it is. Not the prettiest, but it does wow alot of people that come over. Any feedback is sure appreciated.

    Thanks for looking
    Gramatton out

I love it. The baseboard on the cover panel is what does it I think. +rep

Great job on hiding that. The baseboard really makes it convincing. +rep

The baseboard was a great idea to make it blend in. Now my wife wants me to build something like that in our kitchen too. *sigh*

lol Well, the only hard part is finding a place to put it. There was already a space under the desk just big enough for a power strip for the phone and my dad's phone charger. Getting creative I just cut a hole in the drywall and glued a 1/2" think board the the back of the drywall on the other side. That left enough space to mount the board attached to a mobo tray and to lay the PSU down like that. Cutting the hole also let me run the power and video cable for the monitor up through the wall and out from behind the phone jack up there.

Very nice job "stealthing" your kitchen PC. Thanks for sharing!
