Default ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 ... thoughts?

I've been looking at sound cards for a little while now and this is the only PCIe sound card that Newegg has that is not made by Creative. Any thoughts on it? And yes, I need a PCIe sound card because I have no free PCI slots.

Well, I skimmed through the reviews and decided to order it. I may or may not write a review on it after I use it for a while.

I have the D1 (pci version) and I LOVE it. It even worked fine with Vista Ult 64.

To me is the first upgrade I felt was worth the cost (going from dual core to quad was like going from 2 gigs of memory to 4, definitely not worth the cost)

Awesome! I'm excited about getting it, as I've been stuck using my USB sound card for around three months or so, lol.

I thought going to four was worth the cost for me. You get to turn virtual memory off.

I had to get a 64bit OS as well (part of the cost, as well as losing Free Nero). When I put it back together I will turn the VM off as well and give it a try.

    Thanks NM for the tip.

Then it's probably not worth the cost, if you have to upgrade the OS and lose free Nero.

There was a noticeable difference with the VM turned off.

Yeah, I have a dual core CPU and turned that crap off. Now I supposedly get to use all 4GB of my RAM...
