    Default Coaxial to ?? Cable?

So I just bought a new monitor not too long ago and it has every connection imaginable except one for Coaxial (television cable). Does anyone know what kind of cable I need to fix this problem? I would like to use my monitor as a TV (it has speakers btw). Maybe one of these? (If you can find it on amazon or newegg that would be great since I already have accounts with both of them, amazon preferably since I'm an Amazon Prime member.)

Just thought of something. Shouldn't the adapter have video AND audio? (yellow, red, white) Otherwise how would I hear the audio? lol hmmm...

I'm not sure how that would work because you are going to need a separate hook up for your sound. I would get an RF Modulator that has an s-video connector if your monitor has one. The s-video will give you a better picture than an RCA connection. Just know that you still have to run RCA sound because the s-video is picture only. If you hook up s-video don't hook up the yellow RCA lead as it can damage your monitor.

The two adapters that you selected won't work for you. Those would only work with something like an NES, Super NES or Atari. What you need is a TV tuner. Best Buy sells HD TV tuners, or you could buy a PCI or PCI express TV tuner from newegg if you want to go through the computer.

mittelmeier, an RF adaptor takes the a/v cables and gives you a signal on the coxial cable.

Yea I'm rather confused on how this works. Is coaxial cable both video and audio? otherwise I don't know how tv's get audio? so I'm assuming it is, so I'm also assuming that you could get a coaxial cable adapter that has both video and audio on the one end of the cable? maybe thats not possible though. hmm..

btw, I'd rather spend under 15 dollars if at all possible and if its possible I would like it in whatever you call the yellow, red and white cables (component? rca?).

Coxial has everything in one. TVs get the signal from them in a completely different way, compared to your regular a/v(rca) cables. A coxial adaptor would just give you coxial cable TV signal with a different plug, which would do you no good. I think an HD TV tuner from best buy is $15-$30. Actually, it might be a little more than that.

I wonder if I could hook up a DVD player to my monitor? Screw in the coaxial cable then connect the rca cables from the player to the monitor?

If your DVD player has a coxial input (which would mean that it has a tuner) that should work fine. Be warned, that to pick up signals over the air, you will need a digital tuner, which your DVD player might not have.

which is why you save yourself the trouble and just go through your computer haha. That way, you can save your favorite shows and movies AND have a remote.
