Normally, when doing a review I wouldn’t waste too much time on packaging, but this is no ordinary review. I bought the orange In Win F430 for a mod and was quick to open the box. The box itself is a pretty heavy weight box with the normal Styrofoam. Inside is the case wrapped in white plastic and under that a surprise. The packaging that comes in contact with the case is actually cloth! It’s a lightweight, lint-free type of material that seems to suggest that In Win cases are something special.

The case itself looks awfully nice for a pre-mod, mimicking the Ferrari F430, but a lot cheaper. I’ve read a few other reviews for this case that brag about the paint job, but it doesn’t seem anything better than what I’d expect of a normal case.

It does not have that “Orange Peel” look, no pun intended, but does have a a glitter effect added to the paint. When you take pics of the case it often looks like "Orange Peel".

The funny looking bump on the left panel is actually a source of air intake. As you can see, not by much. And to top it off, no additional fan to suck air in. I know that the funnel is built to sit right over the processor, using your heatsink fan, but not every fan sits on top of the heatsink. My Quad core heatsink has a side mounted fan, so it would be nice to have an additional fan that comes with the case. The only fan that comes with the case is the exhaust on the back. It’s just not enough for a $100 case.

The inside isn’t much to brag about either. Definitely not what I expected for $105, not even a single screwless bay. And no motherboard tray either.

To make things worse, there’s apparently a engine sound effect when you press the power button. This is a feature that can be disabled. I’m not going to go that far today.

Pros:

Sturdy construction of 0.8mm SECC Japanese steel
Curved edges make it ‘look’ good

Cons:
$100 cases should have some screwless options
Zero air intake and tiny side venting does little to help
No motherboard tray
Annoying engine start noise

Its a pretty cool looking case at least. It's too bad that they didn't spend more time in quality. I would pay $79.99 at most for that case.

What are those drive bay covers made of? I've never been able to tell if they are a metal mesh or a cloth material or something else? They look pretty nice though, definitely adds a bit to the overall look.

Also what are the four black things on the back ends of the case? Side panel locks or latches or something?

One last question; Do you think there is there a noticeable difference between 0.5mm and 0.8mm construction? I've always wondered that, since most case manufacturer's seem to go with either 0.5mm or 1.0mm construction.

1. The drive bay covers are plastic that are made to look like metal

2. The black things are side panel locks. It's way easier than dealing with screws. Although there are holes if you want to use them too

3. It feels more like 1.0mm than .5mm, I don't really understand what "Japanese Steel" means
