Default How to not install on C: ?

I added a 40GB hard drive to this guys computer which currently only has a 6GB hard drive and Windows XP. When he tries to install a new program it always wants to install it on C: even though there isn't enough room. How do I set the secondary hard drive to be the primary installation drive?

    Does this help at all?

Another option would be to ghost the 6GB primary drive onto the 40GB secondary drive. That way everything is located on the 40GB and he can use the 6GB for a tad bit of extra storage or something. Maybe a backup?
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

It had Win95 and that's all it came with. I got the answer I needed at PCApex anyway. This is the first that I've done this: I installed XP on an old computer with a Pentium 2 333MHz, 384MB RAM and 6GB HD. I added a 40GB HD, formatted it and set the registry to use it as the primary location for new programs to be installed.

I agree with cloning the 6gb to the 40gb. Then he gets the benefit of a larger hdd, and the 6gb can be used strictly for a pagefile.

I bet the inside looked like an atomic bomb made of dust went off? lol

Old computers are fun, you never know what you'll see inside. Maybe some spiders or cobwebs, or maybe some kind of weird airflow design mahjigger that more than obviously blocks airflow more than anything else, or maybe some crazy outdated technology that you have only seen pictures of. Its like some kind of weird computer archaeology site or something. lol

I once found a dead gecko inside a computer case.

When you are installing a some program that time it will be copy in a c:\program File that time you have of change a path of that program. And change the drive Letter to c From a D,E. So that it will not install in a c Drive.
