Default Good Web browser for linux.

IDK if its just me or not but I recently installed ubuntu again and Firefox is running like complete trash. Does anyone know of any good web browsers for Linux that they can recommend?

I would say its my net connection but firefox runs just fine under Windows XP on my laptop, OS X on my gf's laptop and windows Seven on the same PC that i have Ubuntu installed on. I haven't really tampered w/ anything yet in Ubuntu other than installing all the updates and updating to the latest version of the OS, so that leaves me thinking the problem is something to do w/ firefox itself. Anyone have any recomendations?

Maybe I'll see if I can reinstall firefox to "fix" it.

Opera seems to be one of the big players, although with a pretty small market share, though seems to be big in Eastern Europe. Should work well if FF isn't working for you.

I vote for Fix Firefox but I have no idea what the problem might be.

I use Firefox in almost all my linux machines and it run Ok. Opera or Konkeror should run ok also.
For lees resources machines, try kazehakase, dillo...

What is the problem? Why it is "like trash"?

If you want o reinstall it, run in a console:

    sudo apt-get remove --purge firefox

Be sure all (hidden) .folders at your $home are deleted.

Then simply install it through synaptic or apt (sudo apt-get install firefox)

Idk, it just hangs up all the time and loads everything extraordinarily slowly or doesn't load pages completely. Maybe I'll try a reinstall later tonight. I could also install another browser and see if its Firefox or possibly Ubuntu. I'm honestly a big fan of firefox as it's always been good to me.

    New installation? Fe resources?

It's hard to know waht's happening, but I had problems with firefox in Ubuntu with some flash-plugins like gnash, swfdec (early development stages). Check if you have them installed, as could be the source of your problerms (turn on grey screen , hangs, slow loading).
If so, try uninstalling them and installing the flash-plugin of macromedia (in repositores, via synaptic).
