there is a little pin hole at the back. with the router switched on press and hold it with a pin for about 10 secs. this will reset the router to the default settings. DHCP server is active by default with the config of

    ip - 192.168.0.1
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
    ip pool of 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.255

    username - admin
    password - password

make sure the computer you are wanting the ip to be auto configured for doent already have any IP settings configured and it set to auto configure(DHCP)

restart the computer and goto start , run , cmd , type ipconfig /all

locate your network card make sure the default gateway and dns is configured to the router. and that the ip address assigned to the network card is one in the IP pool of the router.

If all that doent work there is something else at fault and is not DHCP on the router. it is configured to work out of the box..

also try a test of pinging the router to make sure its not a internet connection between the router and your internet provider.

Also REMEMBER to take note of your ISP username and password (if required) of your router before resetting it!

A DCHP server doent care if it is wired or wireless it just see's the request and dose it. it would be best to focus on your mums computer as it is wired and will take out alot of problem factors. what other devices do you have on your network?

have you managed to auto-config a IP before?
have you also had a internet connection to the internet before?
and sorta explains the second, if you having IP troubles, how are you connecting to the internet to post a message?

Not to sound rude but, when replying could you add more to a post?

trying to decrypt what your responses are is not easy such as, i asked how are you posting to a forum and my guess of the reply is "her computer is off"

my next important question is why are you wanting a DHCP server if your current configuration of your network allows you to access the internet to post on a forum?

from my research its my suggestion is that dont bother with a DHCP server if its just you and your mums computer and possibly your mates when they come round. it slows resourses to a network and is only needed whe using more then 10 - 20 nodes. not having a DHCP server on your home network also gives a extra soft security because a IP address has to be configured to gain full functions of a network.

setting aside that, what other configurations have you tried?
