I've started modding cases multiple times, but never finished one,due the loss of interest,or some other reason. But this project is different, the planning is to finish it someday,I have a pretty clear picture how it is gone be.
That's why I named this project "The First Finished Project", the whole idea came after seeing an old bookcase wich was made of 8mm transparent lexaan.
The idea was to make a cubus with the following dimensions 30*30*30, the final dimensions aret 26*26*26 because of the size of the motherboard.
Below is one of the first drawings (by hand )
The front will be made of 8mm blue UV plexiglas, the back of 3mm black plexiglas, the rest will be 8mm transparent lexaan (its a hell to saw it,but it will be worth all the work)
The lighting will mostly be UV CCFL or LEDs can't choose.
At the top of the case there a 120mm fan will take care of the hot air exhausting.
The motherboard is placed in the middle, below will house 3 hardisk, powersuply and the dvd-rom.
Test-fitted the hardware, you can draw it as many times as you like, but I couldn't get the whole picture in my head. The dvd will probaly become an slot-in dvd burner.
*The front off the case*
All cables are still very long, gonna de-solder them all, and re-wire everything.
*The backside,without the connector cut-outs*
The hdd's / dvd-rom and the powersuply will trade places
*GPU fan-grill*
*Switches*
Took this switches from an old alarmclock
*CPU fan*
Verry little space between the CPU-fan and the top of the case.
*Powersuply fans*
- Creating ventilation holes with fans
- HDD holder
- Fanducts to cool the hdd/powersuply
- 120mm fan-holder on top of the case
- Re-wire everything
- and a lot more
