Should I use the setpoint drivers w/ the logitech g5

Hey guys, I have a Logitech G5 laser mouse. Should I use the setpoint drivers w/ it or are the windows drivers fine? It seems to work fine w/ just the windows stuff but I was wondering if the logitech drivers were "better." I do light gaming, but I'm far from "leet."

The drivers allow you to change what your DPI settings are, I use it mostly for games (some photo editing) lots of others have no use for it at all ;p

It also does some side-scrolling stuff, if I remember correctly. And that side scroll is pretty useful. But it's completely usable without them, the buttons all work, and it's a fantastic mouse.

Hmm, I really just use the built in DPI settings since I really don't change em up all that much. I like to have the side-scrolling but since I got my widescreen monitor I almost never have to scroll side to side. Maybe I don't need them. But I already do have them installed. In the driver under speed and acceleration, I can chose between the "setpoint implementation" or the "OS implemenation." Does anyone know whats better? Would I even notice a difference.

I LOVED the side to side buttons on the scroll wheel. They have to have the logitech drivers installed to use. I used them for backward and forward for web browsing.

I just set it up like that myself. I discovered that I could do it last night. Since I never use side to side scrolling I figured they would be more useful that way. It also frees up the side buttons for something else. Not sure what though. I was thinking copy and paste but I'll have to wait and see if I find anything more useful.

For gaming I would set the side button to knife.

I use 1 for knife and 1 for Teamspeak

I usually set one to reload and one to "use/action." I never thought of putting knife there. I generally try to keep the stuff I use the most on the mouse buttons.

I have the V1 of the G5 so I only have 1 side button
