Default Anniversay of the invention of the barcode

Yep it is today. What would we be as a society without the barcode?

    Check out Google's page:

Does anyone have a scanner? I wonder if anything would happen if you scanned it?
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

If you scanned it, it would say "google"

Yes, I have a scanner, but mine would not recognize it. I am going to print it out to see if I can scan it. Gimme a second...

I do expect it says Google though.

    EDIT: Yes it says: Google

For some reason my scanner does not like reading barcodes off my LCD but will read it on a CRT. Hmmm...

Why am I not surprised at all? I mean really, even the talking monkey next to me was like "I'll give you a thousand bananas if it doesn't say google." ...needless to say, I owe the hairy little bastard a thousand bananas now. I really need to stop taking sucker bets... and I REALLY need to stop talking to imaginary talking monkeys. lmao

They should have also included how much the company is worth currently. That would have been a nice touch. "uh, can we get a price check on Google please? Wait, how much?? Well THAT is going back on the shelf for sure...". :p

I was on a kick a couple of years ago and printed out barcode labels for all my friends and family's presents for christmas. At least I was amused. (I kill me really I do)

    BTW: Check this out:

At work we are investigating 3D barcodes for one of our customers projects (the 2 on the right of the above photo).

EDIT: One more cool link for you:
