    Default Review: NZXT Lexa S

    A new story entry has been added:

    [drupal=427]Review: NZXT Lexa S[/drupal]

    Today's test subject is the NZXT Lexa S, the successor to the wildly popular Lexa. Less flash is the order of the day with this case, as the progenitor was an aluminum fascia titan, and very popular in modding circles. This time they've chosen black powdercoat and sharp, creased lines. Given that the progenitor is such a popular case, I hope the successor fares as well.

    I'm impressed. The front & sidepanel design don't particularly appeal to me, however that's not really what I look for in a case, those are fixable with a bit of modding.

    The most impressive thing about this case is it fix the two huge issues I have had with a number of NZXT's previous cases. First is the front I/O ports and second is the front door opening. In the past both were setup for keeping the case to the left of the user (on or under a desk) however if you put the case up against something (say the side of a desk or a wall) you blocked either the I/O or the side panel fan.

    I also am impressed with the interior cable management, and while I do see the issues with the clearance being tight in some spots I still think it would work fine for me.

    As someone who loves almost every aspect of the original LEXA I utterly despise this one. All the class is gone and everything good about the original has been replaced with tacky crapness.

    The front looks hideous, NZXT have taken a major step back and have started designing newer cases like their original Guardian and Nemesis range. With that said I did like those cases at one stage but that was many years ago.

    They have also replaced the optical drive bays and even the HDD bays with their newer crapper versions that are used on even their cheapest cases i.e. the Alpha. If you even try to use the plastic clips that they give you they just snap and you have to resort to thumb screws or standard screws anyway, why bother. The original rail mounting on the original LEXA was fantastic, why fix it if it aint broke.

    One thing I do commend NZXT on though is the cable management holes they installed and for actually painting the interior.

    Good review though bro, you did a good job at covering the pros and cons.

    Man, why do you have to sugar-coat everything? Tell us how you feel, we can take it.

    I agree, its challenging to install a watercooling loop in this case:

    Overall, I still like the case though - initial installation of the other hardware was effortless.
