Default Need idea for painting my case

    Hey everybody!

I'm looking to pain my case but I don't know exactly what kind of color/theme/design I'd like. So maybe some of you have any ideas? Here's the case:

It's an old HP Vectra case I found in the trash a few years ago. I gutted it and put a new system in it (c2d E8400, 9600GT graphics) but I didn't have the time to paint it when I got that system. btw, the fan in the front is now a nice white sharkoon one...
Now I'd like to give the old beige-beast a new coat

I was thinking to have it mainly in a dark color (black? dark blue?) with some light/bright accents. I will probably not mod the case a lot and I don't want to have a window in this case, so it's really just a paint-job thing...

So, who can help me with some ideas?

Look around in the galleries and see what others have done.

I'm thinking black and yellow, nuclear theme. (the front blowhole looks kinda like an atomic symbol)

+1 to the black/yellow theme. or black/green would look good too I bet.

As for colors I say you decide. What would you like to look at everyday, and does it work well with the stuff you have around your desk or do you not care (ie: I like consistency so all of my hardware and peripherals are black).

I think this case might lend itself to a two tone well. There is a sharp line on the front panel between the bottom (with the fan) and the top (drives/switches) that carries around the back. You could paint the top half one color and the bottom half another color. I also think you could carry the bottom color onto the drives, drive bay covers, and the little inset area around the switches and the floppy for some contrast.

I threw together a quick idea of what I was thinking for the two tone in gimp, ignore the colors, I picked at random:

wow chaksq! Thanks for spending some time in the idea! It kinda looks good to me, though I thinks maybe Trace and billygoat may have a point with the yellow/nuclear theme.
As for the consistency on/around my desk: there is none... Most things are black, but actually nothing fits together that nicely. So I really thinks it doesn't matter what color to choose.

Thanks again (all) for the input, I'll get back to you soon

How about something like this for a sidepanel?:

I like that. But it is all up to you.

Ohh, I like that hazard color scheme. Maybe do the paint the way I suggested earlier with black on top and yellow on the bottom. Then wrap the top edge of the yellow part with tape or a stencil for the stripe patter.

I was going to say dark dark dark dark green with bright yellow LED's and accents. It would look really "Robin Hood" lol

    Hi all.

Thanks again for the kind words and new idea. I decided to go for the 2-tone hazard color scheme. So like in the picture chaksq made, but with the yellow on the bottom side and the hazard lines along the side.

One thing I'm not quite sure on is how I am going to 'end' the stripes. As you can see in the pictures there is not much room on the front to continue the stripes onto the front (all the buttons and fan-holes are in the way). So that's one thing I'll have to think about, any ideas are welcome...

I think I'll be starting on this spray-over maybe next week, so expect a worklog coming up in the next weeks...
