Man, everytime I try starting the game up it freezes. Previous beta worked fine for me.

I've always wanted a free roaming racing game but only if was sim based. I also wanted the maps to be based on real cities where you can explore real roads on motorcycles, exotics, w/e you please. ...Someday... It is only then when I'll invest in a top of the line racing wheel.

This.
Long ago I remember a racing game that had HWY 280 from San Jose to San Francisco as one of the maps (actually it was more like Woodside to SF...), and it was close enough that you could recognize some of the corners and landmarks. It was OK, but not stellar. I know at the time one of the municipalities complained, saying it would encourage speeding. I laughed, since most of the people playing the game at the time weren't old enough to have licenses...
I had this idea a long time ago, when I was working with some people at sgi creating open source imaging software, about a program that could take the video from a camera and create race maps. Need a new map, just strap on a helmet cam and take the Sporty for a ride down Hwy 35 for a round trip. Indicate the start, finish and turn around points and it renders the new race map for your Need For Speed (whatever).
"...Dumb all over, A little ugly on the side... "...Frank Zappa...
They made an airplane "sim" using google earth... I wonder if they'll ever use street view for a driving game? I'm sure a ton of work would have to go into it but it doesn't seem impossible.

they also need to make a trucking/fork lift/heavy equipment one. that would be lots of fun.
put it in a gta environment so you can spear people with the fork lift lol.

Sadly, my weekend was too busy to get the client installed, let alone play it. I'll fire up the installer tonight (if possible), and hope that I can play on the next go around of the beta.
