    [drupal=520]TBCS's Intel i7 980X World Record Overclocking attempt tomorrow![/drupal]

    By Charles Gantt ( Oneslowz28 )

    Tomorrow TBCS Staff Journalist Trace will attempt to break the record overclock on a Intel i7 980X using an air cooler. To the best of our knowledge Trace will have to hit at least 5.1 GHz (if this number is now higher please PM me a link) and prove that it is stable. To do this Noctua has kindly provided their NH-D14 CPU cooler for this attempt. We chose this cooler because it showed amazing potential by breaking the 5.3GHz barrier on a Intel i5 655K earlier this year. Trace will be broadcasting the full attempt live on Ustream tomorrow. The actual time the attempt will be taking place is still under discussion and we will notify everyone once we have a time set in stone. Keep an eye on this thread for updates and more information on the system he will be using.

    Wooooooooooooooo!!! That record is going down!

    You have some big ol' Deltas or something pointed at the HS for this right?
    Or maybe an industrial blower? Or perhaps it's located on an A/C vent?
    I'll procrastinate tomorrow.
