    Default Home Server Setup

Hi all being a long time since I have posted on here.

I thought I would share with you my current project. Recently I got my hands on a IBM half height server rack. It currently lives in my Garage but is connected to my home network so I can ssh to the server and router from the comfort of my desk.

I finally now have a place for my rackmount gear I have being collecting up. From top to bottom in the rack I have

    16 port 10/100 TP-Link Switch
    Cisco 2611 Router

    BENQ 19" Screen
    IBM Keyboard

    IBM xSeries X346 2x 3.0Ghz Zeons, 2GB RAM, 2x 36.6GB SCSI Raid 1, Debian Lenny

Everything including the rack only costed around $400 AUD ($357 USD)

That's damn good.... I have the 24 port version of that switch (Store gave us it at a discount after a lag problem meant we couldn't get the 16 port version.

I am glad you like it. I got switch cheap at msy. The rack was the biggest coup. A company was moving offices so the flooged it on eBay. I was the only bidder got it for $50. Transporting it home was tricky but I manged it. Only just fitted in the back of the station wagon. (estate). The rack was actually made by IBM in the UK so the build quality is 2nd to none.

The IBM racks are good quality. They are actually made by a third party and OEM'd to IBM. SUN used to buy from the same company.

Love the setup. I am totally jealous of that garage to house the gear.
