Does he still have the packaging and receipt? If so, take that sucker back for a refund/exchange. The one thing I actually like about BB is their return policy.

Nightrain makes a very good point about the DHCP..yet another licensing laden blob of awfulness. I hadn't realized that any post-8000 series nVidia cards didn't have HDCP support, but I guess if it's their bottom line card...ugh.

What kind of budget? What other hardware is he running? I'd suggest searching newegg. I just did a quick search and it turned up over 500 HDCP ready cards.

This is only $20AR and will bit-stream audio on top of all the usual htpc needs. And it is HDCP ready.

Just saw this, so do your research before running off to purchase, but should be a very good htpc card, especially for the money.
