    I need to convert MKV file types into something thats playable by the XBOX 360.

    You know, I'm not sure if such a thing exists. There is one awesome program that can convert MKV into many different formats, such as PS3, but no 360 option. The hell? lol

    Do you know what codec the video and audio are encoded in? It might be as simple as stripping the mkv down and sticking them in a different container.

    Check out mkvtoolnix. I've never used it in Linux, but in Windows it works wonderfully to split apart mkv files.

    It will analyze the file and tell you what codecs the various video and audio tracks are. Then you can have it split them apart. From that point you can convert them with ffmpeg or something, if you need to convert them at all, and then stick them back together into an mp4 or something else that'll play happy with the 360. ..stupid Microsoft, not supporting open-source container formats..
