Discuss. Going in a new staff that I'll be carrying to PlayOnCon.

They either do not light or are dimmer than normal.
    I'll procrastinate tomorrow.

It's a 48 bulb LED turn signal light, and I need a really small battery setup (it's going in a walking staff) but I was hoping it wouldn't blind people looking at it.

Here's where a 9v/12v switch would be awesome to dazzle my enemies.

Can you use two 9V batteries in series (making 18V, I think), followed by a resistor to drop it to 12?

both mdust and blueonblack are correct.

since leds are so light on power, you could also stack a bunch of "watch" batteries in series to get your 12v. you would need 8 of them at 1.5v each. but it would still be smaller than a 9v battery.

you could to the two 9v idea, and just use a standard LM-style 12v regulator, easy as pie. Or just hook them up to a single 9v by themselves and see if they'll turn on. they should, albeit just dimmer

Dimmer is just fine. This bulb has a retinal damage at sub 1 meter warning.
