when you really want good sound that'll match what that wicked receiver can do.

My Forte is the absolute best audio card i've ever had, Dual Processors. 64MB integrated DDR memory. 128 + 128 Voices. But its designed for speed.

    http://www.auzentech.com/site/produc...theater_hd.php

That is the ONLY audio card to support 24p True Cinema output, It also doesn't downsample for HDMI audio like every single other audio card.

has HDMI I/O RCA:TOS link RS232 connection for 8 1/8th audio jacks (mine has the same thing, looks funny, works awesome)

    64MB DDR memory as well.

Just don't be shocked by the sticker price. It's the best card around.

the only bummer, is i have had terrible luck with creative. not only do they make shoddy parts, its sad when you buy a refurb part, it is still working today. i bought a new one, right out of the box doesn't work. the next one died in a few months, still arguing with poor customer service reps. its sad when your new products are that bad, and your refurb are 10x better. i finally stopped messing with them, will never go back. ever. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20xonar%20d2x
i have that soundcard, the xonar d2x, and i am in love. and for the holy grail of headphones, i think i may have found them, sterling te-400s. went out of business over 20 years ago, they were 200 dollars in the 80s. titanium drivers, amazing audio quality. it makes me want to listen to them in my car, and every stereo part in my car is aftermarket, except for the wires from deck to speakers. tweeters, midrange 3 way speakers and subs. in dash dvd player.

this just sounds like a reason to build a HTPC on a budget (well except for the sound card)

and maybe blue tooth it to your laptop.
