    Happy birthday!

Thanks guys! Today's kind of a milestone for me. I made it to 40.

All of you who are in your 30's, or 20's or even teens, make every day count. Looking back I can't understand where the last ten years went, much less the ten before that. I'm reminded of the Pink Floyd song Time. If you haven't heard it, get it. Once today is gone, it's gone. For good.

    I don't feel 40, but then, I didn't feel 30 either. I guess that's a good thing.

So far I've gotten a bunch of writing material from my wife and kids, and a bottle of excellent 12-year-old scotch from my Dad. Having a cookout this afternoon with some friends, and just started an eleven-day vacation from work. Life is good.

“Do not trust people like me. I will take you to museums, and parks, and monuments, and kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible, and when I leave you will finally understand why storms are named after people.”
