    Default Found my first laptop....

In (almost) all of its glory.

    A Compaq Presario 12XL300.
I'd have to say, it's ahead of its time.

Maintenance on everything (save the motherboard itself) is a BREEZE!
It supports 66/100/133MHz procys on the ORIGINAL BIOS!

    Yep. That's a 1GHz procy.

    It's showing its age....

What my plans are, are to bring this back to life and install Android on it.
Android is the easy part; getting it refurbished, however, is gonna be a pretty penny.

The sad part is? This 10-year-old laptop has better performance than that Sylvania "netbook".
Two years. They were great. Let's make the next ones even better!

    Already have (somewhat):

One of the few things that it didn't have was built-in WiFi

Thankfully, I had an HP mPCI WiFi card

What I am hoping to do is install another (non-Compaq) BIOS onto it, hopefully unlocking features.

    7.5*140, anyone?????

I also forgot to mention, the 1GHz wasn't the original procy.

I still have the 600MHz 66Mhz FSB Celery.

The 9.0 multiplier on such a processor amazes me, though.

I LOOOVE that it is a matte display; I hate that it's only 800*600.

Still amazed that they put in a DESKTOP socket in a LAPTOP! When was the last time you saw a LEVER in a laptop's procy socket???
