Looking for used or suggestions for new bits?

I have a Striker Extreme and C2d (not sure of the model right now) I am thinking about getting rid of.

I am looking for anything intel that is lga 775 or newer. I would like something Intel because I haven't had them yet and want to play with it.

i'd suggest going for the lga1155 socket. i mean if you are buying new stuff, there's no need to go with hardware that is already on it's way out.

however, if you are looking for used stuff or simply to get into the intel world for cheap then this combo is what i have and seems to work good.

that'll get you started in the intel world for less than 100 bones.
