Interesting article over at THG. Looks like Intel may have taken back the overclocking crown.

wow. *drools*
I got to page 20 or so... I was convinced by page 10...
Im looking for a new proc and this is totaly in my price range. I'll need to update my mobo however.
Will that proc run on my old version of XP or do i have to spend a fortune on the 64bit?
Can you buy them pre overclocked??
And also do you need a special slot to run a dual core or could i run it on the same slot as my p4
you wont need to up to the 64 bit version. its 64 bit compatible. it will still run just as well on xp 32 bit. but.. i shoudl point out that a 4.1ghz overclock will only be possible on very specific types of hardware. just gettin any motherboard, you will not see that high of an overclock.Originally Posted by Cana-Balsitic

That made me laugh. Can you buy them pre overclocked??
overclocking usually voids the warranty. However if its done right no one can tell. But asking to buy a pre-overclocked CPU from Intel would be kind of like walking into a car dealer showroom and asking to buy a stolen car.
I dont need them from intel i mean from another scorce
Btw my slot is 775
I think my motherboard is intel glenwood i955x
The article lists 4 mobos they used. I read all of it at work yesterday while on hold.
They suggest not doing 4 ghz unless you're running water cooling. With a zalman monster heatsink they got it up to 3.3 ghz stable.
It's lga775. Just buy one of the mobos and the proc. It's worth the money if you can get 4 ghz stable out of it.
