Default Power consumption; Ubuntu on laptop.

Anyone here have any trouble running Ubuntu (or any Linux) on a laptop? I find that i can leave my laptop plugged in all day and it doesn't seem to take a full charge. The battery also doesn't last terribly long. Now i did purchase the laptop used so it's possible that the battery is just on it's last legs but i don't recall having as much of a battery problem with windows.

the only problems i ever had were when there wasn't as good of power management in linux and it wouldn't dim the screen and stuff like that. i think newer versions are better about it though.

Yeah, it does seem to have most of the necessary power management features. I googled for power issues a couple weeks ago and there was supposedly a bug in Ubunut 10 or maybe 11.04 but that was supposed to be taken care of with 11.10.

Maybe it's my battery. I do leave it on the charger all day, probalby burnt out my battery by now.

Yeah, it's most likely due to leaving the battery plugged in.
Two years. They were great. Let's make the next ones even better!
