I dual boot Kubuntu 11.10 and XP on my TGS machine.
I've got problems with both:
No sound in Kubuntu (null device)
LONG boot-up time in XP, with 100% HDD activity
Help, please?

Dunno about Ubuntu, sorry.
Boot in safe mode and go find out what's loading on startup. Also, could be registry issues, old crap leftovers, and any other issues XP normally gains after prolonged experience.

That's what I'm thinking.
Unfortunately, my XP disk is scratched up beyond repair. Do have the liscence kwy, still, though.
I also forgot to mention, it's not grabbing the PS/2 mouse drivers, either.
Well, the Kubuntu problems are fixed.
Was a kernel regression. (as in, the kernel broke something that was already working)
Still got buggy Windoze session, though.
Duh >_<
I backed up a live XP install onto an external.
I can reload from that!
