    Default Great....

Short story: My Thrive's glass cracked.

Long story: I honestly thought that the Thrive had something like Gorilla Glass installed. Nope. Toshiba confirms it's simply laminated glass

The LCD itself is fine. And the touch still works. It's just there's two hairline fractures down the edges of my screen.

Now I'm wondering if there's a way I can get a replacement out of the Gorilla Glass stuff.

I can deal with small scratches. It's cracks that cover the screen that irritates me.

Get replacement glass on EBay. Fix it yourself. Check ifixit.com for instructions.

Found some replacement directions and parts.

SERIOUSLY, Toshiba? $5 a screw if I lose it?

And $150 for new glass that will more than likely break easily again?

So don't break it again. What were you doing, twisting it, or dropping it? And is it still in warranty?

    Warranty expired March 15.

I was just holding it at just the wrong/right angle. Heard two sharp clicks.

LOL! wait till you have to buy an alternator or a water pump for a car. A $20K car is $35K worth of parts! Thats just the way it goes. There are some economics behind it that are somewhat complicated, but the short of it is supply and demand.

    Yeah...

I found the Gorilla Glass site, and the Contact Us page, but it seems more oriented towards manufacturers than consumers hoping to get better replacement parts.
And was hoping to figure out some sort of agreement.

Ah well. It's just two cracks down the middle of my screen, not a shattered glass.

Hmmm..... Maybe somebody could get them to build a custom RaspPi case?
