I think I'll toss my name in the game here. None of my systems are running a SSD. One would be nice for my work/gaming rig. Primary drive seems to be getting sluggish and I couldn't tell you how old it is.

The first two picks will be 90GB drives and the last one will get a 60GB drive

Dont enter me in either.. I've already got one.

I just put a 60gb into my Macbook.. holy crap what a difference!

Less than 2 seconds to shut down, and 14 secs from power button to desktop. WIN.

*Edit: I also think that it's awesome how much you give back to this site TGS! Kudos to you!*

yeah, the boot speed is so amazing, there's no way i would ever go back to a spinning drive for booting.

Also, as TGS said, nothing special needs to be done to install or use an SSD. You can tweak it if you are benchmarking but nothing is necessary. They are lightning fast out of the box.

There were some questions somewhere above this post, but my scrolling finger is a bit lazy today:
Their lifespans depend on both the number of bits and how many times each bit can be written to before failure. Unfortunately, many programs write to disk frequently and there's nothing that can be done about that except possibly redirecting those writes to a HDD instead. Newer controllers support 'wear leveling' to minimize this damage. Also, don't ever defrag an SSD...this provides no benefit while shortening the life of the drive by repeatedly writing over much of the disk (depending on used space).
make sure you enable trim support.

also, i said "i am saving to buy a 120g or more sata3 ssd for the replacement of my desktop 60g... " well, i got a second 60gb for raid 0, and wound up with some problems. first problem, i knew i might run into. i had two different ssd controllers for the ssd's, and they were completely different... kept getting BSOD, so i figured it was that. i just made a quick run to a friends house, who traded me a like sata 3 60gb sandforce drive for my old same size agility ssd and a 160gb hdd.... just finished reinstalling the basics, ill let you all know how it goes, haha
