    Default I. Quit. Smoking. =D

    Hello guys,

This is def. not computer related, but I think it might help some members from going down a crappy path in life.

    I quit smoking!!!

I wanted to share with you guys, because I think it's a double win.
1st - No more smoking (zero!)
2nd- This has been going on for one year!!!

    That's right! I quit 366 days ago.
I've been Marlboro-free for one full year, and I'm as happy as can be.
    You can breathe!!!

I used to smoke a pack a day... you know, wake up in the morning, grungy go light up the 1st one.
Have a meal... light it up.
Chillin' in the car? Light it up.
Hanguin' out with friends'? Light it up.

    Screw that.
    Yuck!

    I'm so happy.
    I quit cold turkey.
No patches, no gum... no 'steps'.

If you're thinking of quitting, use whatever means you have at your disposal, but for the love of god, quit.

Ironically, one of my neighbor's, a 55-60 guy (the one that teached me 90% of the stuff I know about vehicle mechanics), is in the hospital right now.
I believe he has under 1 day to live.
I was yesterday by his bedside, and it's sad.
He can't speak. He doesn't have his eyes opened.
His entire body jerks back and forth as he tries to breath.
"HE" doesn't breath... a machine does it for him.

    Why?
    Because he smoked cigarettes.
To see his son (my age), his daughter (smaller), and his wife crying... it isn't fair, IMO.

It isn't only you... it's your loved ones.
The ones that have to see you die slowly.
The ones that have to get up early in the morning, and leave their agenda aside, to go see you in the hospital... because you were too selfish to quit.
The ones that have to cry in the hall, because it's a lost cause. You *will* die.

    It isn't fair to them.

So, if anybody smokes here, I strongly urge you guys to quit.
    Quit the crappy smoke. Quit.

I wish you all the very best

    -AJ

EDIT: I did some quick math, and in my past year, if the rate was a 20cig pack a day,
    I haven't smoked: 7,300 cancer sticks
and I've saved 1,460 US dollars.
    Wow.

I was a smoker for 8 years. My regular was a pack and a half of Marlboro Reds a day.

August 30th this year is 2 years without. Cold turkey here as well.

Let's not forget the heart & artery damage smoking causes.
Yet for as poisonous as cigarettes are, they continue to exist and thrive. Very strange dichotomy.

I still don't think that it's anyone's business what you put into your body. If you want to smoke, do so. All the information is out there about it, just know what it does to you over the years.

    Congrats AJ@PR.

Congrats man. I don't even wanna think about what may happen to me if I started... I get nauseated just by being near the damn things. At the Tool concert last night pretty much everyone was smoking, with or without the no smoking signs. Thank god nobody near us got drunk, that would've been insane, lol.

Congrats man. I, too, kicked the nicotine habit a while back--chewing, which is even worse than smoking. 2 years nicotine free come October.

Keep up the good work! And if you ever need to shoot the ****, PM me, and I'll send my contact info.

Yay! Congratulations dude. I quit somewhere around 7 years ago. Got hooked in High school and smoked for a good 4 years. Not as long as some people but I still found it hard to stop.

This girl at worked mentioned once that she'd never date a smoker and I decided to kick the habit then and there. 9 years smoke free for me and I got a wife out of the deal. hmm maybe I should rethink that one. Nah jk can't think of anything that would have made me happier.

I like to call this natural selection (Invented by Darwin). If you're dumb enough to smoke, I don't see the problem with a decreased life.

(AJ, your body will be able to heal because you're still young so it's not too much of a problem)

My grandfather died last year at the respectable age of 94, Smoking about 2 packs a day for more then 80 years. His death has nothing to do with smoking. And if it does, 94 is old enough...

BTW, congrat for that full year, I can't stand more then 2 days...
